Glow plug replacement

In this segment I will show you how to replace all 5 glow plugs and at the same time show you how to ream each hole.

Tools needed...
1/4 ratchet
8mm socket
3/8 ratchet
6 inch extension
crow foot wrench#17
10mm ratchet wrench
For me the easiest way to replace glow plugs has been to remove all of the (hard) fuel lines from the IP pump and injectors.
Its simple and very fast.Makes much more room to access each glow plug.
Here is a set of crow foot wrenches, the one we need to unscrew each nut is # 17
Its a tight fit with the crow foot wrench but it works just great.Take your time and make sure the wrench is sitting in the right position.
Start by unscrewing each nut from the IP first and then each nut from the injectors.
Just loosen them first. Then you can use your fingers to completely unscrew each and every one.
Now use your fingers to simply unscrew each and every one from the IP and the injectors.
Now gently remove the hard ware....it should all come out in one piece.
Now you can use your 1/4 ratchet the extension and 8mm socket to remove all five(5) nuts holding the wires to each glow plug.
Now we have much easier access to each plug.
Once the nuts are off its time to remove all the glow plugs.See how easy it is without all of the hard lines in place!
Long live the ratchet wrenches....
There was so much carbon build up on the tip of the glow plugs... they were hard to pull out.
You can see the carbon on the tip.....
In this particular case the plugs were still good,so I simply used a very fine sand paper and cleaned each tip properly.
Hey don't laugh it works great!!
This is my reamer. Its a 15/64 inch drill bit and a vacuum hose   to help me turn the bit and clean out all the carbon build up in each cylinder.
I re/installed all five plugs and added some anti-seize compound the each threaded area.Make sure you use the right compound!
Now we re/install the fuel hard lines back in place...
Make sure you screw then in place with your fingers and making sure NOT to cross thread them or else....!!!$$$
Now you can finish it all off with your crow foot wrench they need to be tight.I don't have a torque reading for them but when I do I will add it on.
Done!
And it took just about an hour to do this job!

I hope this was helpful...
