The last few days up here in the north western part of Canada have been pretty cold,so yesterday morning I decided to go and start both cars to let them warm up.While they were warming up it was time to remove some snow that had accumulated over night on both cars...All of a sudden I notice a large puddle under the 123,at first I thought it would have been water from melting snow.then I approached and I immediately noticed that it was engine oil
I didn't even know if I had enough time to run around the car and shut the ignition off....But I did.
And this is what I found being the culprit...
The stud holding the oil filter lid in place unscrewed it self letting all of the oil out of the engine! And it only took a couple of minutes.Damn was I lucky or not.I have ordered a new nut and stud and will replace it all tomorrow on my day off. And will also be buying a new tube of lock tight.
Ill have more pictures when I replace the stud and nut...Stay tuned

The proper torque is 20 to 25 Nm or 14.75 ft.lbs to 18.4 ft. lbs
The pictures above show what I saw when the bonnet was lifted.
You can clearly see that the aluminum thread broke off and came out with the stud.Probable cause ?> Could be that it was over tighten
As you ca see all of the threads are missing.
I will have to re/do the threads with a new HeliCoil set,and will also add some RED thread lock to the stud. This way it will be in place for a very very long time.
Stay tuned for more pictures of HeliCoil instalation....
Its done!
I was not able to get all of the pictures that I wanted, being alone to do this, and its pretty cold up here and snowing too.But I did install an insert (HeliCoil) on the oil filter housing. Not much room to drill from above so I had to go under the car and drill the hole to remove the old threading.I was lucky enough that I didn't have to buy a new HeliCoil kit since it was the same size and diameter as the one I did on my transmission oil pan last summer. In any case its a done deal,of course locktite was applied.Took less then an hour to complete the job but I had to wait about two hours before starting the engine, only to let the locktite set.

I let the locktite set for about two hours before starting the motor
